As I try to make all my guides easy to understand for both experienced Massive Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game (MMORPG) players, and the beginner here is a brief introduction to Aion Online.
Aion was developed and release by NCSoft, which is a major game development company in Korea. NCSoft is also the creators of some of the most popular MMORPG titles such as Lineage, Lineage 2, and Guid Wars. Aion was first release in South Korea on November 25, 2008, later in Japan/China, and finally on September 23/25, 2009 in NA/EU respectively under the title of "Aion".
Aion follows the story of a world Atreia that was torn into half during the war between Empryean Lords(Daeva/Human) and the The Dragon Lords(Balaurs). In the beginner there are 2 different race who inhabits Atreia, Humans, and the Balaurs. The Balaurs being a far more advanced race created by Aion. After the great cataclysm the humans race is divided into 2 factions, the Asmodians, and Elyos. The Asmodian inhabits the upper half of Ateria, the Elyos inhabits the lower half, and the Balaurs inhabits the Abyss also the middle of Ateria. Finally the last thing you need to know is that all 3 factions are at war with each other.
Even though there are 3 different factions in the game, only 2 are playable, the Elyos, and the Asmodians. The Balaur are a None-Playable Character which are controlled by the game, and is also what makes PvPvE(Player vs Player vs Enviroment) possible in Aion. Aion also has a very unique system which allows you to fly, because of this unique system that allows players to interact from more different angles, then the traditional MMORPGs. So when it comes to PvP/PvE in Aion you're not only having to pay attention of your front and back, but also what's above and below you.
There are a four primary class that you start with, and they are the same for both Elyos/Asmodian, Warrior, Mage, Scout, or Priest. After you become a Daeva(reaching leveling 9) you can specialized in a total of eight specialized classes, and again they are the same for both factions. However keep in mind that you may only choose your specialized class according to your primary class. The Primary and Specialized Classes:
All classes have their own talents, abilities, and a unique playing style.
You'll also need to earn kinah(Aion in game currency) to finance your gears, and customable items. Which is a big part of you being successful in the land of Aion.
Another aspect of your Aion strategy is to master different types of professions. There are 2 general type of profession in Aion, first is gather responsible for gathering raw materials, and the second type is Crafting, which puts all the raw materials to use.
- Gather Professions: Aether Gathering, Vitality Gathering
