Like many MMORPGs, Aion has a crafting system, but regardless of what crafting profession you are going to pursue, you would need raw materials. There are 4 different ways to obtain raw materials for your crafting. You can buy them from other players, drops from monsters, purchase from NPCs, but mostly from gathering/extracting.
Unlike many previous MMORPG I have play where you’ll have to find a trainer and learn a your profession, in Aion everyone no matter your faction you’re equipped with Vitality Extracting as soon as you log in. However, wither you choose to level up the skill later is up to you, but many quests you’ll come across later will require gathering material, as well as gathering useful raw material is probably one of the best way to earn kinah.
Types of Gathering/Extraction Skills
There are 2 types of extracting skill in Aion, Vitality Extraction, and Aether Extraction. Both skills are different and all players can master both if they choose to. Unlike many other MMORPGS where different players can spent time mastering a specific profession of resource gathering such as Mining, or fishing, Aion Vitality extraction covers all of the basic raw material, metal, fish, fruit, herb, gem, wood, and vegetable.
Aether Extraction covers only Aether, there are general 4 type of Aethers, Aether Powder, Aether Crystal, Aether Gem, and Aether. Each type of Aethers takes about 99 skill points till you can reach the next level type of Aether, however there are different level of difficulties nods for each Aether type. This might sound confusing but once you get started you’ll understand, for example the first type of Aether is Aether Powder, which from Aether Extraction skill 1 – 99 that is all you can gather. However there are different types of nods that you can extract Aether powder from, they are all name the same but their difficulties are shown by number of skill requires, and how height they are away from the ground. Unlike Vitality extraction Aether extraction requires you to fly, this might seem hard and annoying at first but it is actually easier to max out Aether then Vitality.
Why do I need to raise my gathering skill?
Well you don’t have to, but not only that you need the materials for your crafting skills, there are also lots and lots of collector (gathering ) quests which gives great rewards throughout the game. Vitality/Aether Extraction is probably one of the best way to earn kinah in Aion, but keep in mind because everyone has the possibility master both skills really remove the uniqueness out of mastering them, so in result you’ll have a lot of competition on the market.
Getting Pass 99p Vitality, Aether Extraction
Apart from levelling your skill points up by practicing gathering, there are 4 ranks for both Vitality, and Aether extraction. From 0 -99 is Lesser Extract Aether/Vitality, 100 – 199 is Regular, 200 – 299 is Greater, and from 300 – 399 is Fine Extract Aether/Vitality. If you’re experience in a crafting profession you’ll recognize this system as it is the same, the only different is all crafting professions has an extra rank the Expert rank.
Once you reach 99 in Aether, or Vitality extraction you’ll realize no matter how many nodes you successfully extract you’ll not reach 100p. The reason is that your skill is cap every 99 points, and you must find the Aether/Vitality Master and purchase you’re way to the next rank. For the Asmodian go to the Temple of Artisans in Pandaemonium, and for Elyos go to Sanctum the Vitality/Aether Masters are located at the Artisans Hall

Aion Extraction Guide for Vitality & Aether 1p – 200p
Vitality (Asmodians)
From 0 – 15 I recommending sticking Azpha they are pretty much everywhere, you can also look for Raydam which requires at least 10p. You can find Raydam located just outside of Melphon’s Campsite, but compare to Azpha they are very few in number.
From 15 – 30 I recommending sticking with Iron ore, they are located along the walls of Moslan Forest all the way to Traders Berth in Altgard.
From 30 – 45 You can gather Tikel all around Moslan Forest, and Mosbear Habitat areas, or Tecoma Log also around Moslan Forest. Also from 35p you can add silver if you see them in Mosbear Habitat area, and at 40 Rose Quartz, they aren’t great for levelling your skill but they sell very well.
From 45 – 65 Kandula, Otombliss, or Krimer all around Mosbear Habitat, Mumu Village, and Idun Lake area.
From 65 – 75 Extract Porel(Fish) in the lake of Idun’s Lake area or in the lake of Gribade Crater Lake area.
From 75 – 99 Go to Brusthonin, then go outside the Settlers camp and in the Polluted waste, you’ll see a bunch of farms there are tons and tons of Horto there more than enough to get you to 99. You can also gather Bilcora, or Ringa, but it is so much easier to stick with Horto.
From 100 – 120 Just outside Morheim along the mountains, and trees look for Titaniums, and Wrud Logs to extract, or go along the mountains outside Brusthonin and gather Titaniums. You can other gather Gadill in the river by the waterfall at 115 in Morheim.
From 120 – 140 Gather Twisp/Vinna in Patamor Thicker/SalintusDesert, Theonia around Patamor Ridge Path, all are in Morheim.
From 140 – 160 Gather Vinna/Theonia around Patamor Thicker till you’re 150p, at 150 go to the lake under the bridge between Sprigg Habitat, and Patamor Thicker and gather Dorado(Fish).
From 160 – 180 This part is kind of hard cause the fastest way is to either stick with Dorado till 170, or gather Gold in Brusthonin along the wall of Havenjark Cemtary. The reason is hard because there are very limited amount of choice between what you can gather to increase your skill, and also the number of actual nodes of Gold. At 170 go back to Morheim and go to Salintus Desert to gather Hasia, there are lots.
From 180 – 199 Continue with Hasia till 190p, then go North of Salintus Desert to Kentari Village and gather Chikra, there are also Chikra in Sprigg Habitat. Once you reach level 199p go to Vitality Master in Pandaemonium and get to purchase you’re way to 200p.
Vitality (Elyos)
From 0 – 15 I recommending sticking Aria they are pretty much everywhere, you can also look for Mela which requires at least 10p. You can find around Daminu Forest, but compare to Azpha they are very few in number.
From 15 – 30 I recommending sticking with Iron ore, they’re best found along the walls of Dukaki Mine, or Zumion Canyon.
From 30 – 45 You can gather Ruk, Betua Log , or Kukuru around Tolba’s Forest. Also from 35p you can add silver if you see them in Dukaki Mine area, and at 40 Rose Quartz, they aren’t great for levelling your skill but they sell very well.
From 45 – 65 Targena, or Liguri along Zumion Canyon, Contaminated Swamp, and Altamia Ridge area.
From 65 – 75 Extract Modida (Fish) in the lake of Holy Ground area or in the lake of Contaminated Swamp area.
From 75 – 99 Go to Theobomos, then go outside the town and gather Dado there till you reach 85p. At 85p go back to Veteron, fly to Cantas Coast and gather Venera/Caprauna, or Afari (Fish) till 99p.
From 100 – 120 Just outside Eltnen along the mountains look for Titaniums, the best place is probably Eiron Desert. You can also gather Lumesia right ouside of Eltnen Fortress.
From 120 – 140 Gather Rubashi around Manduri Forest area, or Lapia (Fish) around the water of Eltnen Fortress.
From 140 – 160 Gather Koa Log around Manduri Forest area, and if you want you can head to Ruberein Wasteland area and gather Fess.
From 160 – 180 Gather Gold along the mountains of Sataloca’s Tomb till 165p, at 165p head to Mystic Spring of Anathe and gather Omblic, or Umblia. There are also lots of Umblia around Western Eracus Desert, so you can also go there if you want but at 170p.
From 180 – 199 Gather Ruta either around Wastern Eracus Desert, or Mystic Spring of Anathe, then at 190p in the water of Mystic Spring gather Bacora (Fish). Once you reach 199p go to Sanctum speak to the Vitality Master and purchase you way to 200p.
Aether (Asmodian)
From 1 – 75 stay at Altgard and gather Small Vortex till you reach 75p.
From 75p – 150 head to Morheim and gather the Small Vortext right above the town till 100p, then gather the Big Vortex till 150p.
From 150 – 199 head to Reshanta(Abyss) gather Big Vortext (150p) around Sulfur Fortress, be careful of Elyos attacks. At 175p head to Sulfur Archipelago there are lots of 175 nodes there to reach 199p, then go to Aether Master and purchase your next rank.
Aether (Elyos)
From 1 – 75 stay at Veteron and gather Small Vortex till you reach 75p.
From 75p – 150 head to Eltnen and gather the Small Vortext right above the town till 100p, then gather the Big Vortex till 150p.
From 150 – 199 head to Reshanta(Abyss) gather Big Vortext (150p) around Sulfur Fortress, be careful of Asmodian attacks. At 175p head to Sulfur Archipelago there are lots of 175 nodes there to reach 199p, then go to Aether Master and purchase your next rank.
Basic Extraction Knowledge
- Most material are static spawn, that means they will always spawn in the same spot.
- Vitality Extraction difficulties increases by increments of 5P per material, and you can only gather materials equal or lesser than your skill level.
- Aether Extraction difficulties increases in increments of 25.
- Most Vitality Extraction regular material nods allows up to 3 chances to of extraction, some special materials nods might only allow one chance.
- All Aether Nods allows up to 5 changes of extraction.
- One of 3 thing will happen when your extracting materials, succeed, fail, and instant fail. The first two you will gain skill points from, but the third one you gain nothing. To stop instant fail while gathering either take 1 step at any direction or take a 1 – 2 second break in between attempts.
- Gather 1 type of material for 10-15 skill point gain, reason being as your skill increases it gets easier and faster to gather that type of material, and you still gain skill at the same rate between 1-10 skill points of that material.

it’s simple you can only gather Aether after you ascend, they are usually in areas you can fly. Just fly near one and gather like you would normally do. I’ll write a small guide for Aether, it won’t have much on it

you can gather Platinum around Beluslan for Asmodian or Heiron For Elyos. That’s the two area you should be in from 200 – 300. And from 300 – 399 it’s Brusthonin or Theobomos for Elyos
