Aion Mastery Guide

So I’ve been fooling around on C-Aion (Chinese Aion) for a few weeks now, and originally wanted to play as my favorite Assassin, but it was too laggy to play on C-Aion due to latency and ended up playing Spiritmaster. After a quick search for level 42 – 45 Spiritmaster on the C-Aion server and found 0, I decided to write an Aion Spiritmaster Guide for the underdog class.

What is the Spiritmaster?

For those who haven’t played Aion yet, and is wondering what is the Spiritmaster class in Aion here are some general information’s. Spiritmaster is an archetype of the mage class, their primary ability is to summon and command elemental pets, they have strong Will, and Knowledge. Spiritmaster uses magical spellbooks and orbs as their weapon of choose, and basic cloth and robes are their armors. They are not the best choose for solo pvp, but they are the best class for solo PVE.

Role as Spiritmaster

Being the underdog of all Aion classes, the Spiritmaster are usually misunderstood and not given enough credit for their power. Many players has the wrong impression about the Spiritmaster. Unlike the Sorcorcer which is design for doing massive amount of damage, Spiritmaster is design for crowd control, debuffs, and shut downs. Bottom line is your there to be annoying, keeping your enemy fear, slowed, and debuffed, making their skills useless.

Spirit Master PVE

Spiritmaster is the best class for solo PVE in Aion, having a pet to tank and deal extra damage makes allows them to handle and kill higher level mobs allot faster than any other class. Although they are widely known to be able to solo elite mobs, and high level boss mobs. Although Spiritmaster is design to be the best class for solo PVE, it has also been said by level 50 Spiritmasters players on Korean servers that after level 40 you would have a much harder time soloing than level 40 and below. Also an added bonus to being able to kill higher level mobs and boss, makes the Spiritmaster the ideal class to farm for unique gears from boss and make money.

Spiritmaster is also great for group PVE, their pets debuff, they can slow, snare, debuff, and most important of all they are the only class with fear and remove enchantment/buff skills, all and all makes Spiritmaster an valuable class in a well organized group or raid. If your group or raid ever get into a tough situation and is over whelm by mobs, the Spiritmaster can easily use massive area fear to crowd control.

Spirit Master PVP

Sadly being a Spiritmaster most likely you’re not going to be on the top of the list for PVP rank. The Spiritmaster isn’t there to solo PVP, you don’t have the best DPS (damage per second) as a caster cast, and you were robes and cloth just like the Sorcerer making you valuable to physical attacks especially Assassin and their ambush skills. Now that doesn’t mean Spiritmaster cannot PVP at all they are just not ideal for solo PVP, an well managed and skilled Spiritmaster can do very well in PVP. I have seen Spiritmaster easily take town almost every class equal or high level to them in PVP with fear, and their shut down skills.

Although the Spiritmaster is not the ideal class for solo PVP, you’ll be showered with love for group PVP. Ever PVP group needs a Spiritmaster to strip/remove buffs, it cost them money to buy high grade enchament scrolls while it only cost you mana to strip/remove them . Best of all as a Spiritmaster you can remove templars’ famous armor buffs and watch them cry as they can no longer tank 10 people at once.

Although none of the Spiritmaster pets can fly or follow you in the air (maybe in the future), the skill Wing Root definitely makes up for the lost of pet. Wing Root allows you to cut down your enemies fly time, causing them to panic as they fear of dropping to death.

PVP Tips From Level 50 Spiritmaster Players:

  • Use Erosion and Seldom Orbs as your main damage skills, as they save your mana pool usage.
  • Use pets as a harassment tool, keep your enemies annoyed.
  • Fears, Magic block, Magic Combustion, pet skills, Wing Root and your AOE DP is you friend, you will use them a lot during pvp.
  • Don’t worried about your DPS, worried about your control skills.
  • Beware of other Spiritmasters.

Choosing a Pet

Most people wants to know which is the best pet to have, the answer is there isn’t “the best pet” they are good for different situation, here is a breakdown of all the pets and their abilities.

Fire Spirit:

Your very first pet is the Fire Spirit, out of all spirits the fire spirit is probably the most balanced, they have the second most of HP, good DPS, and average defense. The fire spirit is no not the best choose for PVP, however they are used during pvp because of the Command: Substitution skill, which allows the Spiritmaster to redirect all damages towards the fire spirit. The fire spirit also works well in groups for PvE, as they can lower physical defenses, as well as fire resistance of your enemies, and because their HP is second to the Earth Spirit allows them to survive a lot long from any attacks and AOE. The Fire spirit are also great for solo PvE because they have the best taunt skill, so when your dyeing they can get the mob off you. As a quick note the fire spirits commands(skills) are burst damage, and they have the best taunt skill

Wind Spirit:

The Wind Spirit is my personal favourite, not only that they look cool but they are also the best and primarily used for PvP. The Wind Spirit is weak and has the lowest amount of HP, however they have the fastest running speed allowing them to catch up to your enemies easily. The wind spirit also has the highest melee DPS, and they can stun if you use Command: Disturbance. Not many people use the wind spirit for solo PvE, unless they are kiting the mob and use the wind spirit as extra DPS. Unlike the Earth and Fire Spirit, the Wind Spirit training book can acquired from drop from Wind Spirit related mobs, or purchase from other players that are selling them, and depending on the server they can be costly. Just like the Earth spirit, Wind spirits also has a mix of burst and DoT skills.
